Most boards big enough to play properly are too big to put anywhere afterwards.

This one opens to nearly eighteen inches of playing field and then folds in half on itself, so the game that felt generous all evening goes flat against a shelf.

The size is the whole argument. At 17.7 inches across, with a king standing 3.54, the board reads clearly from either chair — the ranks stay distinct and nobody leans in to check what they are looking at. The pieces are built from two materials rather than one: electroplated chrome and gunmetal at the crown and the foot, pale acrylic through the stem, so the weight sits low where it holds a square.

Who it's for: the player with a table that justifies a full-size board, and the shelf that still has to take it afterwards.

This is the largest board in the range and the only one that folds. If the set needs to stay assembled on a table instead, the cased sets under chess sets and boards keep their pieces in a drawer or a fitted tray — the Cabinet Chess — Walnut is the closest in size.
